Homophobes loathe gays but what they probably don’t know is that the culture, economics, and politics of the world they live in today has been shaped by LGBT persons.
That's because queers are the outliers and can't conform to the dominant patriarchal-religious structure, which has condemned them from cradle to grave wherever they have lived. So they break away and chart a new course to advance civilization. Even when queers were denied rights and justice, they thrived and advanced humanity with their innovative ideas and leadership.

In literature, authors like Tennessee Williams, Herman Melville, Walt Whitman, Langston Hughes, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Emily Dickinson, Henry James, and Henry David Thoreau have written books that have interpreted and refined the culture through their voice.
In history: Alexander the Great, Emperor Hadrian, Sappho, King Richard the Lionhearted, Julius and Augustus Caesar, Aristotle, Socrates, Erasmus, Christina of Sweden, Virginia Woolf, Eleanor Roosevelt, Queen Anne, Marie Antoinette, Margaret Fuller, and modern names like Dag Hammerskjold (the first United Nations Secretary).
In film: Hollywood actors like Rock Hudson, Cary Grant, Raymond Burr, Rudolf Valentino, Montgomery Clift and Tab Hunter epitomized masculinity for several generations of movie viewers.
In fashion: the greatest designers have been gay: Giorgio Armani, Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, Perry Ellis, Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Jacobs, and Gianni Versace to name just a few.
And in economics, John Maynard Keynes theories revolutionized the modern global economy advising in the set up of the Bretton Woods institutions (today’s International Monetary Fund and World Bank), which is the international commercial and financial system governing most of the world’s population.
So the next time you read a novel, hear financial news, study history and politics, watch a movie, go shopping, or engage in international trade, thank the LGBT pioneers who have advanced civilization to make life comfortable for you. In other words, gay is good!
A good question to ask: When will LGBTIQ Afghans rise up and make their mark in history and serve as a lightening rod to all Muslims living in the dark and repressive Islamic World?
