1st anniversary since my coming out in Afghanistan

Today marks the one-year anniversary since my historic coming out as the first public figure from Afghanistan. In a week where freedom of the press has been under assault with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria beheading James Foley and with Afghanistan expelling Matthew Rosenberg for publishing a story about a coup plot in Kabul, I can’t tell you how happy I am to honor my life to the advancement of freedom and liberty throughout the Islamic World. As the late Robin Williams once said, “No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world.”
