I'm happy to declare myself Irish!

I’m happy to declare myself Irish! Last weekend, Ireland made history by becoming the first to pass gay marriage by popular vote (at the grassroots level). All 20 other countries where same-sex marriage is legal came about via constitutional reform or a judge spelling out the letter of the law. In other words, Ireland paved the way for a global social revolution.
Here’s what you need to know about Ireland.
-A traditionally Catholic country steeped in patriarchy.
-Only in 1993, Ireland decriminalized homosexuality
-Eight years ago, there was no active lobbying for LGBT marriage equality.
-Gay marriage passed by 2 to 1 margin. That’s 62.1% yes to 37.9% no.
-60.5% of the citizens turned out to vote, making it the largest nationwide referendum in Ireland's history.
-Oscar Wilde, an Irish native, was the first LGBT Rights Activist in the West.
A month ago, I took a ‘What is your soul nationality’ quiz and it said: “You’re Irish. You’re the perfect example of kindness and human courtesy. Empathy flows deep in your bones. It is really who you are. You have cared for many and healed them with your touch, even at the cost of trusting others when they didn’t deserve your trust. To be honest, your love and trust should be cherished and treasured. By being yourself and spreading your healing, your are creating a legacy of kindness and selflessness that will never be forgotten.”
